In an interview with the Chinese Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Chang Hanhui spoke about the research of the coronavirus genome by Chinese scientists, the search for the source of the virus and the inadmissibility of politicizing the fight against the pandemic.

"Today, when most of the world's countries face a terrible threat, the experience of China, which was the first to take the blow and defeat the epidemic, is especially valuable. However, there are countries that seek to accuse China of spreading coronavirus. How do you assess these statements?

— "To defeat the outbreak of pneumonia caused by a new type of coronavirus (COVID-19), China has made great efforts, made great sacrifices, steadfastly confronting the epidemic that has unfolded in the country, and won an interim victory. In doing so, China has won time for other countries, two months, to work to prevent and control the epidemic.

After the COVID-19 epidemic spread globally, China's footprint , "made in China," "China's image" - reappears on the front lines to combat the virus. China's contribution is obvious to all, but at the same time as we recognize our successes, we are also faced with the desecration of our name, condemnation and slander. The rolling ball will always be stopped by an obstacle; slander will be stopped by wisdom. China adheres to the concept of the "Community of the Common Destiny of Mankind", adheres to a scientific approach, responds responsibly to the common challenges of mankind, which is sure to receive respect and approval from the international community.

— "Some Western media refer to the virus as "Chinese" or "Wuhan." Is it possible to say from the latest data that the virus actually appeared in Wuhan?

— "After the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic in Wuhan, China has often faced the desecration of its good name. Some people, plotting unkind, irresponsibly called the virus "Chinese" and "Wuhan" trying to make false accusations to China that the source of the virus is there. Determining the source of the virus is a serious scientific and social issue. Modern technologies to determine the sequence of genes may well accurately detect the "past and present" of the viral gene.

Five reputable scientific bodies, including the Tropical Plant Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences of the Sishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Region and the Central Botanical Garden of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, collected data on 93 samples of the COVID-19 genome published in the world database covering 12 countries on four continents. Studies have found that the earliest "ancestor" of the virus was mv1, it evolved into a set of genes (haplotypes) H13 and H38, and H13 and H38, in turn, together spawned second-generation haplotype - H3, and H3 again evolved into haplotype H1. In simple terms, haplotype mv1 is "grandfather," H13 and H38 - "grandfather" and "grandmother," H3 - "daddy" and H1 - "baby". The virus that originated in Wuhan on the seafood market is a virus of the totality of the H1 genes. Previously, haplotype H1 in Wuhan was found only haplotype H3, and this haplotype has nothing to do with the seafood market in Wuhan. The more ancient haplotypes H13 and H38 were never found in Wuhan. Strains of these ancient haplotypes are also not found, which is very illogical. This suggests that a sample of haplotype H1 was brought by an infected person to the seafood market, after which an epidemic broke out. The sequence of gene disposition cannot be fooled. The virus has probably long differentiated and evolved from its "ancestor" mv1, and Wuhan has become just one of several places where it was brought. Before the outbreak of the haplotype H1 haplotype virus, hofitopa H13, H38 and H3 may have been spreading in other regions.

— "Does China then have data on where the virus and the "zero patient" have originated?

— Coronavirus coVID-19 infection has erupted in many places around the world, and all countries are actively searching for the source of the virus. The facts speak louder than words, more and more cases show that although COVID-19 first appeared in Wuhan, it is not a fact that its source is in Wuhan.

On 14 February, in Japan,a Japanese man in his 60s was confirmed to be diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus, and on the 16th he was confirmed by his wife, a woman in her 60s. The couple traveled to the United States for tourism and stayed there from January 28 to February 7. Recently, they did not go to China and did not have contact with the Chinese. On February 3, when the couple were still in Hawaii, the man had already developed symptoms, but he did not seek medical attention. On 8 February, after returning to Japan, the man was hospitalized with a high fever and was immediately diagnosed with new coronavirus pneumonia COVID-19. According to current clinical data, if he had contracted the coronavirus in Japan, the symptoms would not have been present on the same day, suggesting that the man had already been infected with coronavirus before 3 February. In addition, on 15 February, five people in the Wakayama Prefecture medical facility had a collective infection, the source of infection of the five persons is unknown and there is no evidence that it is linked to China. Based on the aforementioned cases of infection, Japanese TELEVISION ASAHI believes that China is not the only source of infection.

On March 26, the Nature website published a route to the spread of a new type of coronavirus epidemic. This article suggests that on January 1, COVID-19 has already appeared in The Italian Lombardy. In addition, according to some media reports, a well-known Italian specialist in medicine Giuseppe Remuzzi suggested that the epidemic in Italy began to spread earlier than in China. He stressed that "the virus may have started to spread before it was detected."

On April 4, the U.S. Navy released a statement saying that the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which was moored to Guam, had 155 crew members tested positive for a new type of coronavirus. This aircraft carrier sailed in January and never arrived in China. On March 5, the aircraft carrier arrived in Vietnam and docked at Danang, and on March 18 the aircraft carrier entered the Philippine Sea. It is possible that the crew of the aircraft carrier was infected before arriving in Vietnam. At a COVID-19 hearing on March 11, Robert Redfield, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, acknowledged that a large number of flu-related patients in the U.S. may have died from pneumonia caused by a new type of coronavirus, but the U.S. has not been tested. Italy hopes to track the first case of infection by suggesting the U.S. exhume, but the U.S. side categorically refused.

Numerous facts indicate that the source of COVID-19 has not yet been determined and that it points to different regions. The virus is a common enemy of all mankind, the search for a "zero patient" is not aimed at nailing it to the pillar of shame, but in order to better understand this virus, to figure out the way of its evolution and then completely defeat it. Relying on modern science and technology, we can trace the source of the virus and be sure that sooner or later the day will come when all the secret will become apparent.

— The U.S. accuses China of withholding information about the epidemic from the world community. What would you do to answer these accusations?

— On April 3, the U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, Peter Hoekstra, published a document accusing China of dishonesty in resolving the problem of the new coronavirus, in particular, that the information provided was incomplete and opaque, leading the United States to misassess the situation. U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has repeatedly publicly criticized China for not sharing information about the coronavirus pneumonia epidemic in an open and honest way. Openly or not, the facts show it. Understanding what is good and what is bad is embedded in people's souls. In the face of a public health emergency for all humanity, we must remain rational, set aside policies, come together and overcome adversity together.

At the end of December 2019, the Wuhan Centers for Disease Control and Prevention detected cases of pneumonia with an unknown cause. On the night of December 31, the State Committee on Hygiene and Health of the People's Republic of China issued orders and hastily sent a working and expert group to the city of Wuhan to conduct on-site research. Beginning January 3, 2020, China actively and timely provided information about the epidemic of the World Health Organization, the U.S. side and other organizations of the respective states and regions. On January 4, the head of the China Centers for Disease Control and Prevention contacted the head of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention by phone and briefed him on the epidemic, and on January 8 and 19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in China and the United States again had direct contact on the new coronavirus. On January 12, the State Committee on Hygiene and Health of the People's Republic of China shared the complete sequence of genes of the new coronavirus with WHO and countries around the world. Since January 21, the State Committee on Hygiene and Health of the People's Republic of China has published daily information about the epidemic situation on official websites and administrative media platforms, by March 31 the total number of publications reached 71. Beginning on February 3, the English-language website began to make synchronized publications, and by March 31 the total number of publications reached 58.

On January 24, a team of researchers from beijing's Sino-Japanese Friendship Hospital, the Academy of Medical Sciences of the People's Republic of China, Jinyingtan Hospital in Wuhan And others published "Analysis of Clinical Signs of Infected With The CoVID-19 Coronavirus in Wuhan" in the British medical journal Lancet. WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adan Ghebreyesus expressed his gratitude to the Chinese government for its openness and cooperation on social media. Richard Houghton, editor-in-chief of the well-known Lancet medical magazine, said: "In the last week of January, we knew that an epidemic could occur, as information about the epidemic situation in China was communicated with great clarity."

The U.S. also said China expelled U.S. journalists to cover up the epidemic. In fact, in February 2020, the U.S. took steps to limit the number of people for five Chinese media agencies in the U.S., which is actually the expulsion of a large number of Chinese journalists. Due to the infertile outcome of the negotiations, in response to the U.S. crackdown on Chinese media, the Chinese side, in accordance with international norms, on March 17, 2020, took countermeasures against the United States. These are absolutely countermeasures against the United States and have nothing to do with the epidemic. Including American journalists, there are currently more than 500 foreign journalists working in China. They may well understand the epidemic situation in China in real time. It is unreasonable to accuse China of hiding the truth about the epidemic on the grounds that China has expelled American journalists.

— How can China help other countries fight the pandemic?

— "China has made every effort to resume production after achieving a phased victory in the fight against the epidemic, it now produces more than half of the world's medical equipment and has provided 120 countries and four international organizations with general-purpose medical masks, N95 masks, protective clothing, nuclein acid reagents, ventilators, etc., and has donated $20 million to WHO to support international cooperation in the fight against the COVID epidemic. Since the beginning of the epidemic to the present day, China has done its best. Ignoring China's contribution and sacrifices runs counter to moral norms and conscience.

In the face of an epidemic that has not existed for a century, no one is immune. All countries should unite, not shift the blame to each other. Racism and Cold War thinking are not only useless to combat the current epidemic, but can also drag our world into the abyss. The outbreak of the new coVID-19 pneumonia poses a great threat, it is a war without smoke between humans and viruses, not a struggle between countries and ideologies. The epidemic has no borders. The countries of the world are a community of common destiny. To combat the epidemic, effective joint prevention and control is needed and preparations for a global battle to contain the epidemic are needed. At the same time, we must work together to improve economic and trade relations, unlock trade channels, overcome possible economic and financial crises and prevent the global economy from sinking. Only by the cohesion and joint efforts of all humanity can we achieve a comprehensive victory in the global fight against the epidemic.
