Perinatal center in Novosibirsk will open ahead of schedule to create a covid hospital in it
The object is planned to be completed by the end of the year
NOVOSIBIRSK, November 5. / TASS /. One of the largest perinatal centers beyond the Urals in Novosibirsk, which has been under construction since 2013, will be commissioned ahead of schedule to equip a COVID hospital there. For this purpose, 75 million rubles were allocated from the reserve fund of the government of the Novosibirsk region, the Minister of Health of the region Konstantin Khalzov said on Thursday at a session of the Legislative Assembly of the Novosibirsk Region.
The construction of a new building of the perinatal center worth 2.3 billion rubles began in 2013 on the site of the demolished old obstetric building of the regional hospital and was supposed to be completed in 2015, but it was stopped due to a lack of funds. At the end of 2018, experts from the Omsk branch of Glavgosexpertiza of Russia studied the design estimates for the reconstruction and equipping of the perinatal center and issued a positive opinion. In the summer of 2019, construction resumed. The construction and installation work was planned to be completed by September.
"A decision has been made to allocate funds, they have already been brought to the Ministry of Construction - 75 million rubles - for the commissioning of a perinatal center this year as a possible covid hospital," Khalzov said.
In October, the head of the Novosibirsk region, Andrei Travnikov, reported that the health care system is in an overloaded state, and in this regard, it is planned to reserve the perinatal center as a potential hospital for patients with COVID-19 with 220 beds. As of November 2, the bed capacity for coronavirus patients in the region is 5,546 beds.
According to the operational headquarters, on the morning of November 5, 18.2 thousand cases of coronavirus infection were registered in the region. Since October 11, in the region, the increase in infected people per day for the first time in the last two months has exceeded 100 people. Due to the increase in the number of people infected in Novosibirsk, the regional cardiac dispensary, an emergency hospital, a maternity hospital, a hospital for war veterans and the Siberian district medical center of FMBA were redesigned for infectious diseases hospitals.
