“Sampling requires some kind of training for the laboratory assistant. You can take this sample too delicately, and then it will be inferior, ”he said in an interview with NSN.

According to him, even if the sample is taken correctly, a certain percentage of the tests will give a negative result, since the amount of nucleic acid in the smear may be below the capabilities of the method.

As Altstein noted, if the result is positive, then in the overwhelming majority of cases it is correct.

“Clinical symptoms will help make sure the test is accurate. If a person has no symptoms and the test result is negative, then with a high probability he does not have coronavirus, ”the expert added.

Earlier, the chief sanitary doctor in the Sverdlovsk region Dmitry Kozlovskikh, in an interview with URA.RU, told why tests for COVID-19 may show an incorrect result.
