IRKUTSK, November 6. / TASS /. The government of the Irkutsk region left the municipalities with the right to make a decision to transfer schools to distance learning due to the difficult epidemiological situation. The press service of the government announced this on Friday.
On Thursday, November 5, at a meeting of the sanitary and anti-epidemic commission under the government of the Irkutsk region, it was decided to transfer the region's schools to distance learning for two weeks from November 9 to curb the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
"The decision on the form of education in schools from November 9 will be taken by municipalities. The head of the region, Igor Kobzev, has made appropriate changes to the decree [on the introduction of a high alert regime]," the statement says.
It is noted that the situation with the spread of infection in each municipality is different, the decision is based on this. In total, there are almost 900 general education organizations in the Irkutsk region. Since September 1, schools in the region, which in the spring, due to the pandemic, went to distance learning, began to work in full-time mode.
According to the regional operational headquarters for preventing the spread of a new coronavirus infection, as of November 6, 26,014 cases of infection were confirmed in the Irkutsk region. The increase in the last day was 253 people. During the pandemic, 20,304 people recovered in the region, 509 patients died, including 18 people over the past day, this is the daily maximum in the region for the entire pandemic.
Due to the complication of the epidemiological situation, trade and service enterprises were recommended to provide visitors with protective masks, universities - to switch to distance learning, the work of catering establishments was limited to 23:00. Public transport is checked for compliance with the mask regime by passengers. The region already has about 5 thousand covid beds, of which almost 1.3 thousand - with oxygen supply. The supply of medicines to the region has been increased, as there is a shortage of antiviral drugs and antibiotics in pharmacies.
