Pashinyan stated that in order to prevent war he had to give up 5 regions around Karabakh
But even in this case, the status of the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic would not have been finally resolved, said the Prime Minister of Armenia
YEREVAN, November 10. / TASS /. The war between the unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) and Azerbaijan could have been prevented if Yerevan agreed to give up five districts around Karabakh. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated this on Tuesday during a live broadcast on his Facebook page.
"Could the war have been prevented? Yes, if we had agreed to surrender five regions around Karabakh. But even in this case, the status of Karabakh would not have been finally resolved. What would you tell me if I asked - to surrender these territories around Karabakh? that no one would agree, including me, "he said.
Pashinyan also added that what is happening in Karabakh is a tragedy, and noted that he is personally responsible for the current situation.
On November 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed a joint statement on the complete cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. As, in particular, the Russian leader said, the Azerbaijani and Armenian sides will remain in their occupied positions, and Russian peacekeepers will be deployed in the region.
