The founder of Tesla and SpaceX, Elon Musk, said that he had done four rapid tests for COVID-19 and received two positive and two negative results. He wrote about this on his Twitter account.

“This is some kind of insane fiction,” the businessman commented on the incident. Musk noted that he passed all four tests on the same day. The tests were from the same manufacturer, and the examinations were performed by the same nurse.

In the comments, the businessman noted that if something like this happened to him, it could happen to other people. To understand whether he is sick or not, he decided to take a PCR test for coronavirus in several laboratories. According to him, the results will be ready in a day.

Musk admitted that he had symptoms of a common cold, but decided to get tested.

Some users accused the entrepreneur of being irresponsible. “Please, stop muddying the waters during the worst health crisis. All in order to sell more cars, ”wrote a commentator with the nickname @__Keenan____. Other users noted that rapid tests are indeed often wrong, and advised Musk to donate blood later to check for antibodies to COVID-19.

Earlier, Mikhail Lebedev, an expert at the Center for Molecular Diagnostics of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor, called the PCR test the most reliable method for detecting coronavirus. “Unfortunately, there are a lot of false positives. Therefore, you can really see [the presence of coronavirus] only by a direct method, and a direct method is a PCR method, ”he said.
